NILES FOUND THE MIDDLE GROUND
Responsible growth can bring investment and jobs. Retail still needs clear limits.

#VOTE • CITY OF NILES
Niles found the middle ground: welcome responsible investment, keep the number of pot shops in check, and protect the community we call home. Vote YES. Five is enough.
THE CHOICE IS CLEAR

WHAT A YES VOTE DOES
A YES vote adopts a citywide maximum of five marijuana retailers.
It draws a firm line against more pot shops and puts that line in the hands of City voters. When this proposal passes, five means five.
Responsible growth can bring investment and jobs. Retail still needs clear limits.
A maximum of five draws a firm boundary against more pot shops.
City voters have the final say on whether five will remain the limit.

A STRONGER & BETTER NILES
We are proud of our history, our riverfront, our peaceful surroundings, and the progress taking shape downtown. Niles should remain a good place to live, work, raise a family, and build a business.
The City has allowed marijuana businesses without letting them define our future. The proposal protects that balance through one citywide rule: a maximum of five marijuana retailers.
THE LINE WE ARE DRAWING: This proposal sets a citywide retail maximum. It does not ban marijuana businesses, and it does not change the separate rules that govern other license types.
KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IS ON THE BALLOT
“amaximum of fivemarihuana retailers … are permitted in the city.”
ONE PROPOSAL. ONE CLEAR LIMIT.
The ballot asks whether the City Code should be amended to permit a maximum of five marijuana retailers across the City of Niles.
CITY OF NILES PROPOSAL
It is proposed that the City of Niles Code of Ordinances, Section 54-534(a)(1) be amended to add the following the language:
(b) Notwithstanding 54-534(a)(1)(a), a maximum of five marihuana retailers as defined in MCL 333.27953(q) are permitted in the city.
Should this proposed amendment be adopted?

CLEAR ANSWERS
No. The ballot language permits a maximum of five marijuana retailers in the City of Niles.
Five preserves the middle ground Niles has already established. It allows legal retail while drawing a clear line against further expansion.
The City's adult-use ordinance separately allows a maximum of four microbusinesses. The ballot language sets a maximum for marijuana retailers and does not rewrite the separate rules governing microbusinesses, growers, processors, or other establishment types.
Because a guardrail only works if it holds. A YES vote places the five-retailer maximum directly in the City ordinance through a vote of the people.
CITY OF NILES
Responsible investment. Clear guardrails. A community whose future belongs to the people who live here.
Five is enough. This far, and no further.
